Letter from the Editor, Daisy Dunn
It was only when I typed the words ‘ARGO 20’ at the top of the document I used to plan this issue that I realised we have reached an important milestone. This autumn marks 10 years since ARGO was born.
I remember arriving one November morning at a Sicilian restaurant on Store Street, near the Hellenic Society office, for what was, I suppose, an interview. I had worked a few years previously for the Joint Association of Classical Teachers, also based in Senate House, and had come to understand something of the gulf between classical scholarship and the wider world. I had juggled my work for JACT with my Classics PhD and some first forays in a career in writing. My interest in the democratisation of Classics tallied with the Society’s ambition to produce a publication quite different in outlook from the existing JHS and Archaeological Reports.
