Welcome to the new SPHS website, a new website for a new millennium, just a bit late. The new design, which owes a lot to the ideas of Richella Doyle, Andrea Smith and Dan Stewart, is (we hope) both more attractive and (more important) easier to use than its predecessor. It forms part of a larger strategy of improving the service we offer to our members. In the immediate future it will act as the gateway to a growing database of images of Greece and the Greek world. This image bank will be free to use (subject only to acknowledgement). We also plan to use the website as a growing repository of lectures and articles (starting with the Presidential lecture of Malcolm Schofield), including videos of public lectures to allow members to catch up on missed events. As part of the larger offering to members we have arranged (in collaboration with the Roman Society and with the help of the ICS librarian) access to the JSTOR database of journals on the ancient world, for which the website will act as gateway. Access is free to all members who possess a Joint Library card. The role of website and the richness of its contents will grow steadily with time. Watch this space (literally).
